On Broadway, Emily Loesser played Kate Mullins in the Tony award winning production of Titanic . At Carnegie Hall, she sang the lead in the concert version of the rarely heard Gershwin musical, Tip Toes, and was Kitty in Where's Charley? at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She played Stiffy Byng in the American premiere of the Alan Ayckbourn and Andrew Lloyd Webber musical By Jeeves, which was performed at The Kennedy Center, Goodspeed Opera House, the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, and Pittsburgh Public Theatre. She appeared in the Off Broadway musical Swingtime Canteen, played Linda in Holiday at the Court Theatre in Los Angeles, and starred in the “lost” Gershwin musical Strike up the Band at Goodspeed Opera House. Prior to that, she played the title role of “Yiddle” in Yiddle with a Fiddle at Town Hall in New York and Los Angeles. She was Liesl in the New York City Opera production and subsequent tour to Japan of The Sound of Music, starring Debby Boone, and appeared as Mirele in The Witch for The Jewish Repertory Theatre, both of which earned her Outer Critics Circle Award nominations. She made her Off-Broadway debut opposite her mother, Jo Sullivan, in the musical revue, Together Again For The First Time. They have since appeared together and with her husband, Don Stephenson, in numerous concerts, club engagements, and on recordings, most notably Loesser By Loesser for DRG Records as well as The Most Happy Fella (JAY/TER Records) and Guys and Dolls (also JAY/TER Records), featuring for the first time all the music her father composed for both the Broadway show and then film version of Guys and Dolls, as well as the original orchestrations. Emily can also be heard on the recordings An O’Henry Christmas, Lost in Boston, Unsung Irvinq Berlin, Swingtime Canteen, Berlin is Mine and Tip Toes (Upcoming). Film and Television credits include Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC), Reading Ruth (RJ Media), and Skeletons in the Closet (pilot). Her performance of Stiffy Byng in the Alan Ayckbourn/ Andrew Lloyd Webber production of By Jeeves has recently been filmed for Broadcast on PBS Great Performances by Really Useful Films/Tapestry Pictures Inc.
Emily Loesser played Maria in The Sound of Music at The MUNY Opera, having performed there in The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Oklahoma, Meet Me in St. Louis, and Sleeping Beauty in past seasons. Other regional theatre productions include Oleanna, Lend Me A Tenor, Patient A (Barter Theatri), The Gift of The Magi (Actor Theatre of Louisville), A Thousand Clowns (American Stage Company) and South Pacific (American Musical Theatre of San Jose). She appeared in a workshop of The Screams of Kitty Genovese, written by Will Todd and David Simpatico, at The Eugene O'Neill Theatre Conference. Also with the O'Neill Theatre, she played the title role in the play Love? or Theatre?: The Life of Charlotte Salomon, which was performed at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia. Other recent projects in New York include performances of Down in The Valley ( at Symphony Space) and Lyrics and Lyricists, The Songs of Jerry Herman (92 St.Y), and Ernest in Love (Lincoln Center; Oscar Wilde Series).
